Archival/Cataloging Position at CSU, Dominguez Hills

 

NEW LISTING – Archives and Special Collection Department: Sr. Asst. Librarian. Tenure track position. The University Library is seeking a motivated and progressive professional to join its Archives and Special Collection Department and Technical Services Department. Successful candidate will be responsible for  appraisal, arrangement and description of archival materials, reference in the archives, creating digitized finding aids, digitizing archival collections, maintaining the Archives website, and conducting original and copy cataloging materials in all forms through OCLC and Innovative Interfaces Millennium; coordinating database management in the Archives and elsewhere; participating in the management of  the development and faculty liaison responsibilities; and assisting in program assessment and special projects; and will supervise students and support staff and serve on Library and campus committees. QUALIFICATIONS

 

A.     Required: Master’s Degree in Library from an ALA-accredited library school or equivalent; minimum two(2) years of archival experience; substantial knowledge of archival management and theory, AACR2, MARC, LCSH, DACS, LC classification, OCLC standards and integrated library systems; knowledge of current cataloging standards and formats. Must have strong commitment to user-centered processing and nationally-accepted standards for archival processing and description. Experience encoding finding aids using Encoded Archival Description. Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly and effectively. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. 
 
B.     Preferred:  Experience with OCLC in a cataloging environment; experience with Innovative Interfaces Millennium in a networked environment; experience with LINK+ or comparable consortia.
