Assistant Librarian II
$41,376 per annum
(Two-Year Temporary Appointment, Two Positions Available, To Be Filled Contingent Upon Receipt of Funding)

Responsibilities:

The Bancroft Library's Survey Project Archivist reports to the Associate University Archivist and oversees the day-to-day operation of the project, with primary responsibility for the development of the survey instrument, field visits to campus offices, development of the database, data input of survey results, analysis of the record reports, and creation of retention and disposition schedules.

Assists with establishing priorities for work assignments, managing workflow and work schedules. Works with participants on appraisal of collections to create records disposition schedules. Implements decisions and instructs and guides staff, explains and enforces standards, and monitors and reviews project work.



Qualifications:

Required
: MLS from an ALA-accredited library school with course work in archival administration or a graduate degree in archival studies.  Work experience in an archival repository or records center.  Demonstrated knowledge and work experience with records management either in an academic setting or other similar institution.  Knowledge of MS Access database software is essential.

Preferred: Familiarity with records surveys and creation of records retention and disposition schedules.  Excellent analytical, interpersonal and communication skills, initiative and flexibility.  Strong commitment to excellence in service and demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively in a complex, changing environment. The successful candidate will show evidence of effective project planning, management, and completion.
        
Professional contributions beyond the primary job, e.g., publications, active participation in University and professional organizations, and other research and creative activity are required for advancement within the Librarian series. Candidates must show evidence or promise of such contribution
.
