Am seeking information on one Eino Latvala, who was an American Finn who
emigrated to USSR, likely in the 1930's, during Great Depression.
Apparently several thousand American Finns, and others sympathetic to
Bolshevism or Communism, felt Stalin's Russia offered opportunity and better
pay than America; the USSR was looking to advance technologically, and the
Soviet-based Karelian Technical Help Organization, HQd in NYC, facilitated
this. Oscar Corgan headed up Karelian, himself a Finnish-American Communist
Party member. Corgan's influence pursuaded Eino Latvala to go to Russia for
opportunity, but Latvala did eventually return to the US. Corgan emigrated
with his familty to USSR, but he was arrested there in 1937, and his
execution (in 1938) was denied for many years by the Soviets.

Any light shed upon Eino Latvala will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
