Hello everyone,

Don’t forget! Today, April 25th, is the deadline for reserving hotel rooms at the $89 per day rate for the upcoming Society of Southwest Archivists Annual Meeting which is scheduled for May 25-27, 2006 in El Paso, Texas. Visit the meeting website at http://southwestarchivists.utep.edu/ for details.

The opening speaker on Thursday will be J. Reynolds Cahoon, Senior Advisor on Electronic Records, Office of the Archivist, National Archives and Records Administration, and on Saturday morning author David Romo will talk about his exciting new book, A Ringside Seat to a Revolution: An Underground Cultural History of El Paso and Juarez, 1893-1923.

Interesting and relevant sessions are planned for the meeting, and workshops and tours of the region are still open for registration. Workshops on “Basic Electronics Records” and “Disaster Planning” will be held on Thursday, May 25th. Events include a reception and tour of local archives in Cd. Juarez, Mexico, as well as a reception in several historical sites in downtown El Paso. Tours to “Old New Mexico” (La Mesilla, New Mexico) and El Paso’s Mission Trail are available, also.

Plan to register today!

Thank you,

Laura Hollingsed
