The following books are being kicked out of the Academy's
archival library for being out of scope. I would be happy to send them to
anyone who might have use for them.
Dewey, John, and James H. Tufts. Ethics (New York: Henry
Holt, 1932). Revised edition. Formerly owned by the Nurses Reference Library at
Hallam, Henry. History of
Hallam, Henry. View of the State of Europe During the Middle
Ages (
Jewish Holy Scriptures (Washington, DC: Government Printing
Office, 1942). A pocket-size book made for Jewish soldiers. Oddly, has a
leaflet on "How to Receive Holy Communion" stuck into the front.
Rollin, Charles. Ancient History of the Egyptians,
Carthaginians, Assyrians, Babylonians, Medes and Persians, Macedonians, and
Grecians (London: W. Otridge and Son, 1808). Eight-volume work, volume 4
missing. Desperately needs rebinding; text blocks are solid, but covers are
detached, missing, and/or plagued with red rot. Books bear bookplate of Dr.
Alfred C. Wood of
Roth, Cecil. A Short History of the Jewish People (London:
East and West Library, 1948). Illustrated edition, revised and enlarged.
Peattie, Donald Culross. Green Laurels: The Lives and
Achievements of the Great Naturalists (New York: Literary Guild, 1936).
Tonks, William. Medicine Men's Mistakes (New York: Southern
Publishers, 1940). Not actually about medicine -- it's a rant against the New
Deal.
Weber, Alfred. History of Philosophy (New York: Charles
Scribner's Sons, 1909).
Westropp, Hodder. Handbook of Archaeology: Egyptian -- Greek
-- Etruscan -- Roman (London: George Bell and Sons, 1878). Covers missing.
