May 19 Deadline (extended) for proposals for the Third International Conference
on the History of Records and Archives (I-CHORA3), to be held in Boston,

May 19 Tennessee Historical Records Advisory Board (THRAB) workshop for
archivists, records keepers, librarians, historians, and others interested in
the preservation of Tennessee history.

May 19-20 SAA workshop, " IT Training for Practicing Archivists Series;"
Atlanta, GA. "Digitization of Archival Materials on the 19th; "Digital
Libraries and Digital Archives on the 20th.

May 20 On this date in 1919 was born Wilfred Irvin Smith. Dr. Smith served as
Dominion Archivist of Canada from 1970-1984. He is often credited with
developing the concept of "total archives" by which government archives
preserve private records and personal papers as well as official state records.
