Very common. I see *archival collection* or *archives* attached to all
manner of newspaper and periodical backfiles, as well as other "old" stuff
and electronic files that are really just data dumps. In a lot of cases,
using "archive" as a verb just means to "save." (So, that junk drawer in
my kitchen is an archives!)
