Provincial Archivist (Saskatchewan)
Saskatchewan Archives Board
Deadline: 16 June 2006

PROVINCIAL ARCHIVIST - SASKATCHEWAN

The Saskatchewan Archives Board, which oversees the work of the provincial archives of Saskatchewan, is seeking a recognized leader in the archival field to be the provincial archivist and head of the Saskatchewan Archives.

Under the direction of the provincial archivist, staff of the Archives appraise, preserve, and manage public and private records of historical and archival importance to Saskatchewan and its people.

Managing historically significant documents is as important as managing relationships with the Board's many government and private stakeholders.

Their support is critical to the work of the Board and the quality of the collection.

As the successful candidate, you are responsible for the Board's strategic plan, formulating organizational goals and objectives, implementing policies and plans, and securing the integrity of the province's archival collection. As a representative of the Saskatchewan Archives, you liaise with officials in government and work with peers and volunteers in provincial libraries, museums, archives and other entities who have an interest in preserving the heritage and history of our province.

You have a keen sense of history and strong desire to preserve and share Saskatchewan's story. You communicate and share your passion as a leader and coach with staff and the Executive Management team. Fostering an atmosphere of creativity and commitment is a top priority, as is helping your team grow personally and professionally in their roles.

Your credentials include a Master's degree in Archival Studies or a related discipline in the social sciences or humanities. Management experience, including responsibility for a budget, is an asset.

If you have a passion for the history of Saskatchewan, and an interest in strengthening the work and profile of Saskatchewan Archives, apply in confidence no later than June 16, 2006 to:
