Dear all,

Colleagues and users may wish to try our new search engine at www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/search/quick_search.aspx

You can find UK archive catalogue records, digitigised/digital records and archive locations using simple subject categories.

Among its many interesting features, I would like to draw your attention to the subject classification - which was based on extensive user consultation (a sort of folksonomy) and the way it links subject-based information guides with descriptions of records.

Global Search is a one-stop search engine for over 28 million records from the following online resources:

The National Archives Catalogue - 10m records at www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/catalogue
Access to Archives (A2A) - 10 m records from local archive holders in England and now in Wales at www.a2a.org.uk
DocumentsOnline - digitised records at www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documentsonline/
National Register of Archives (NRA) at www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/nra/
ARCHON at www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/archon/
Moving Here at www.movinghere.org.uk/
Electronic Records Online at www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/ero/
Family Records from www.familyrecords.gov.uk/frc and www.familyrecords.gov.uk/
TNA's Bookshop, Research Guides and website a www.nationalarchives.gov.uk

The Advanced Search option allows flexible searching by database and by subject category.

Please, bear in mind that this new site is still under development!

Best regards
