The Sisters of St. Francis of Penance and Christian
Charity seek a project archivist to consolidate and organize the archival
holdings of its
Responsibilities:
Conduct initial survey of collection and consolidate archival materials from
various areas of province; Develop records management policies and procedures
for Midwest province based on systems/policies in place in congregation’s
Eastern province; Determine and acquire necessary archival supplies; Assist in
refining annual budget for archives; Create cursory inventory with box-level
descriptions and container locations; Re-house collection in appropriate
archival enclosures; Assist in determining adequate location and storage of
collection in newly constructed building.
Qualifications:
A Master’s degree in Library Science or History, with concentration in
archival studies; Demonstrated experience in processing archival collections in
supervised setting with evidence of increasing responsibility; 1-2 years
relevant archival experience; Ability to lift heavy boxes and perform other
physical activities associated with archival work; Candidate must be flexible,
energetic, and organized with excellent interpersonal/written/oral skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Some experience in records management and/or relocating archival collections; knowledge
of Catholicism helpful. Certification by Academy of Certified Archivists a
plus.
