I know Jim Wheeler very well – and while I am sure he said what you wrote
here- I seriously doubt that it was intended to be used as an endorsement
of your product and I seriously doubt that he would “endorse” a product like
this until he had seen it thoroughly tested and worked with it for some
time. The product may be great – I do not know – but quoting him like this
may give a false impression.

Our company launched last December an archival CD case to replace the highly
breakable Jewel case and give archivists a tool to protect properly CDs. I
am copying below a quote from the AMIA-List about our CD case:
" ... Stildesign had a booth at AMIA-Austin. I was impressed by their
archival CD/DVD case. The main problem with most CD/DVD cases is the high
pressure exerted on the center hub area. Stildesign has eliminated that
problem by a very clever "punchout" that does not apply pressure on the
disc. Most CD/DVD cases grasp the hub of the disc and eventually the disc
breaks or comes apart.
In my opinion. the Stildesigned case applies very little force on the disc.
This is critical for extending the life of the disc. Many of the case
designs (including BlockBuster) put high pressure on the hub and that
usually results in failure.
I recommend obtaining more information as well as an actual disc case by

I am currently working on a collection that has CD Roms in it. They are in
various cases (cardboard, plastic). I have a fairly simple question (I
think). Is it preferable to keep the media inside the case it comes in or
should I take them out and put them into CD sleeves? Will the acids in the
cardboard and anything else negatively affect the integrity of the media?
Also, are there good white papers on this subject? A posting from the
