While I agree that the thread has probably run its course, I just want to
say that as a current archives concentrator (in the MSLIS/MA
archives/history program at Simmons, where I have indeed been exposed to
both Schellenberg and macroappraisal) I have been very interested in reading
these debates and getting so many different viewpoints. I don't think it's
been a waste of my time at all.

That said, I tend to agree with Kim at this point: let there be pax
archivus.

Subject: No Mas

Folks, as of this moment I have 80 unread emails in my trash, most of which
are on the subject of professional degrees, lack of them, no respect.

Yadda.

Yadda.

Yadda.

I'm very sorry that no one gets paid enough, no one is respected enough, and
no one is loved enough.

The fact is, I am up to my eyeballs in web server statistics (which are
refusing to cooperate), streaming media issues, and our intranet problems.
My fingers are tired of deleting messages I haven't the energy to read, and
I'd like us to officially shut down the annual thread on professionalism so
I can go back to my technology misery in peace.
