Can anyone recommend a good moisture meter for measuring the moisture content of wet materials, i.e. books? At a less than exorbitant price? Or are they all like that?
Or, any recommendations on determining whether books are completely dry?
On Monday, while the rest of Houston flooded, a pipe broke on the floor above us, showering--make that gushing--down on the bound journals section of the library and a corner of the archives stacks. We were lucky in that it was clean water, and recovery went smoothly, but the touch method for gauging dryness does not seem adequate.
