I agree with all that you are saying.

For clarification, though, I would like to emphasize that my main
problem wasn't with Mary Beth being described as a "history
detective," because I agree that sort of task is certainly part of the
job (and a fun one at that). My problem was with the fact that the
reporter said that she was "selling herself short" by calling herself
an archivist. I hold that this is definitely not the case.
