Please excuse multiple message. This announcement is being cross-posted. Texas A&M University Historic Images Collection Now Available Online Cushing Memorial Library & Archives, a division of Texas A&M University Libraries, is pleased to announce the opening of its Historic Images Collection website. This site (http://cushing.tamu.edu/collections/images/) contains more than 5500 historic images and photographs of the Texas A&M University community. High resolution versions of these images are easily available to the public through a "shopping cart" function . Over 2000 images are being added to the site monthly. The images currently available include most of the buildings on campus, early football, A&M traditions (such as Aggie Muster and Bonfire), aerial views, baseball and student life. Images of the Corps of Cadets, the largest group of uniformed students in the United States excluding the service academies, are being digitized and will be available shortly. "Cushing Library which houses the University Archives contains over 200, 000 photos of life at A&M from its early days in the 1890s to the present. Although these images were always available to the public, this website allows greater and easier access to the rich photographic record of the university," comments David Chapman, University Archivist and Associate Director of Cushing Library. "We are thrilled to have these photos online for Aggies everywhere to see and enjoy." The Historic Images Collection website is a collaboration between the Cushing Library and Digital Initiatives Research units of Texas A&M University Libraries.
