SYSTEMS ANALYST II --Application Developer

Job #: CEW5631 Hiring Range: $44,330 to $56,500

Education:A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:Three or more years of job related experience. Successful candidate should have the following Desired Skill Set: knowledge and experience with SQL, HTML, XML, XSLT, Java, Javascript, Perl, PHP, Ruby on Rails, and related web development software and applicable open source tools; familiarity with UNIX, Apache, TomCat, LINUX, EZProxy. Additional computer experience: Windows 95/98/2000/ME/XP/NT, Dos, Mac, and MS Office Suite programs. A college/university environment and library experience desired. Selection process will include a background check.

Duties:A key component of the GT Library’s mission is to be a leader in Innovative technology use and development. It’s developing centers of excellence are in: 1) digital repositories and collections, 2) digital preservation, and 3) web-based information discovery and access. Maintain and develop the library’s strategic IT leadership strengths and seek new technological opportunities. Position Summary: The Application Developer provides intermediate level software application development, testing, documentation, implementation, and maintenance for the Library’s web-based digital programs. Areas of support include digital repositories and collections, digital preservation, electronic publishing, and support of the Library’s web presence with regard to these digital programs. Other areas of activity may include development support for image databases. Anticipate and investigate new technologies in library technology and related areas. Work with partners on campus and in library consortia to share solutions to mutual challenges. Major Responsibilities: Development and maintenance of digital repository applications as well as applications that will work in concert with the digital repositories’ functions and services , i.e. DSpace-based repositories such as SMARTech, Archives DSpace, Galileo Knowledge Repository. Some participation in campus digital asset management systems development and integration (i.e. DAMS). Digital collections-related applications development and maintenance, i.e. Archivist's Toolkit, Greenstone, image databases. Assist/perform other projects as needed, involving development of the library’s web site in regards to digital repositories, collections, and preservation programs.
