Very nice, indeed.

Sonny, you brighten our Fridays in countless ways. Life often can be grim and hard but instead of adding to its negatives, you choose to share beauty and brightness with us. I'm glad you're having fun, what you wrote below sez much about the type of person you are!

One of the many grateful beneficiaries of your talents,

Maarja

Very Nice, thank you.

A couple weeks ago, my friend Kyle Cassidy from U. Penn visited
Natchitoches on his trek across America to gather pictures for a book,
Kyle was my inspiration for Picture a Week, it was fitting that week
marked five years of my Picture A Week project (PAW).

Kyle woke me up to the fact that I might just have been becoming a
camera owner, and maybe I did not deserve that nice camera because I did
not do much with it.

It took a while for me to not think of Monday as the deadline, and that
I had to have an image ready. Since I almost always have a camera with
me, I see things and take the shot, then later in the week, I'll go over
the images and pick out what was the best.

So now, every week, I find the best picture I have shot in the previous
week and post it to my website.

Amazing trek. I've made people happy with my shots; some people angry,
because they just don't get what I'm doing.

The Friday flowers came almost accidentally when I posted a flower
picture to the archivists group, and lots of people liked it. It became
my most followed feature, often producing a thousand views in a day.

It is a nice feeling to have accomplished this, and I will continue.

The sidebar to all this is that through this web site, I have
experienced new opportunities after being away from journalism for some
time; several magazine assignments and some features on e-zines are in
my pocket, and some magazine covers too!

Lots of fun, and I'm getting local recognition as well. A poster series
"Sacred Places" for the Natchitoches Historical Foundation yielded
hundreds of sales for them this year.

All this because five years ago, I took up an idea, and started taking
my camera everywhere I go.

Subject: [ARCHIVES] Tribute to Sonny Carter

I, like many on the list look forward to Fridays to see what Sonny
Carter will bring us. Sometimes, I'm sure the picture he presents will
be the only bright and inspiring aspect of the day. I have never written
to Sonny on this List telling him how much I appreciate what he does for
all of us and for all those we send the link onto.

Recently, I took a couple of days off, just me and my shaved up Golden
Retriever "Sunny" to a farm in West Virginia and being inspired by Sonny
Carter I went looking for the flowers on the farm.

In honor of Sonny and all the joy he has brought us I present for him on
behalf of all of us List Lurkers..."The Farm"

Just click on the link below, once it loads "right click" on the screen
and apply "Full Screen" and turn up the volume!!!! I'm sorry if your
fire wall doesn't like it.
