Mark your SAA
calendars...
Be sure to stop by and browse the
annual Visual Materials Section Book Fair & Silent Auction
in the Expo Hall at SAA!
When is
it? Friday, August 4th from 9-11:45am (Expo Hall) and 11:45am-12:15pm (Visual
Materials Section meeting room)
What is the Book
Fair? The fourth annual Visual Materials Section Book Fair features
a remarkable selection of books donated by institutions and archives around
the country that highlight unique visual materials
collections. This year's
publications feature western art and Americana from the Bancroft Library and
Yale University, illustrated letters from the Smithsonian and avant garde art
from Ohio State University, photographs from the collections of Rutgers
University the Oregon Historical Society, African-American film posters from the
Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and much, much more!
What is the Silent
Auction? Almost all of the books in the Book Fair will be up for
auction to benefit the activities of the Visual Materials section. Stop by
as many times as you like to place a bid. Bids will be accepted in the
Expo Hall until 11:45am and in the Visual Materials Section meeting room until
12:15pm. Winning bids will be announced during the
meeting.
Stop by, browse, and place a
bid to benefit the Visual Materials Section and celebrate the diversity of
visual materials collections in our institutions! We'll see you
there.
