Security Roundtable meeting

August 2, 2006, 5 pm to 7 pm

The Security Roundtable is pleased to announce two NARA speakers at our Roundtable meeting. Ms. Kelly Maltagliati, Special Agent at the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) at NARA will speak about the recovery of stolen artifacts. Maltagliati will explain the MOU between NARA and the National Coalition for History (NCH) and the recent grant award to monitor auction websites for stolen artifacts. She will address how this program works and how archivists in the field should work with NARA's OIG in the case of theft. Ms. Maltagliati will discuss patterns related to security lapses or measures that SAA members can learn from and note the popular auction websites that archivists/librarians should monitor.

Our second speaker is Jarrellann Filsinger, Information Assurance engineer at the Electronic Records Archive Program at NARA, who will speak on the security of electronic records. She will discuss the security controls needed to support authenticity of digital records including user identification and authentication, audit, intrusion detection, access control, and configuration management.

Both speakers will be available for a question and answer session.
