I posted the orginal question. It has nothing to do with The Mount Sinai Hospital, per se. Our physicians and nurses composed the basis for the medical and nursing staff of the Third General Hospital, but it was a regular Army medical unit. (Our staff was Base Hospital No. 3 in Wrold War I.) Off the top of my head I cannot recall where it was in the whole Army heirarchy, but it was regular army. I do not know how this motto was selected or by whom, but I do not think it had anything to do with Mount Sinai's Jewish roots. Does anyone know the meaning or significance of this Mt. Sinai Hospital blazon "By God and by the sword!"??? Does it have a reference to Jewish history or culture? Is it significant to the World War era? ------------------------------------ Russell D.
