I know the topic is getting a little old
and has been trampled ad nauseum, like
arena dirt after a rodeo.
I’m glad to have the CA designation
and I think it has helped my career and my standing at various institutions. It
is important to me as a professional. I have worked hard to professionalize my
skills and knowledge of this field and the CA is a symbol of that.
That said, I agree with the original post
by Marinomets: I think the exam itself was shamefully poorly written and poorly
conceived. Terrible, just awful.

This past week I
took the certified archivists exam and wanted to share my experience and
generate feedback from others, especially from those who took it as well.
My honest opinion was that the exam was not a great tool to assess our
professional archival skills, or to put it another way, I thought the exam was
awful. I felt many of the questions were poorly written and
