I heard from the professor this evening, it seems that he had left an old email address up on his blog, and that of course is what I had used to email him.  So, he didn't see my emails until this evening, when they were forwarded to him by an administrator at his old university.  It turns out he was very appreciative that I had taken the time to explain the different roles of records managers, archivists and historians in the Federal environment.  He is going to post a clarification on his blog about this and the NASA Apollo tape; I'll link to it when it is up.

So, sometimes it does help to reach out to people in other fields and provide context that they may be lacking!  I was glad to get a nice email from him.
