Dear List,

What are the ethical implications that surround designating items as interpretive/educational pieces intended for expendable use?  Should the institution inform the donor of the intended use of the items?  Is an institution obligated to attempt to give the items away to another museum prior to placing them in the interpretive/educational collection?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Kind Regards,
Ashley McLendon
