Maybe there is or should be a commercial and
archivally safe version of what I improvise for
personal papers:

- clip a corner from a paper, sometimes cello,
envelope and tuck that piece snugly over the leading
edge, usually upper right, of a stack of sheets. A
descriptive note can be pencilled in.
