On Friday, October 20, 2006, the archivists at the Alkek Library are hosting an
Archives Week reception and “fair” on the campus of Texas State University-San
Marcos. Archivists, curators, librarians, and other custodians of archival resources
are cordially invited to attend. Our goals are to:

* provide an opportunity for archivists in the region to get together;
* introduce students (and others) to archival resources in the region;
* celebrate archives!

There will be an opening reception from 10 to 11 a.m. for attending archivists, and
then a public reception from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., including a light lunch. The program
will be informal with brief introductions, announcements, and door prizes. Attendees
are encouraged to bring take-away handouts and information about their collections
to share with students and other interested parties.

San Marcos is conveniently located on I-35 between Austin and San Antonio, and
the Special Collections Department houses the Southwestern Writers Collection, the
Wittliff Gallery of Mexican and Southwestern Photography, and the Texas State
University Archives. Parking information and directions are available at: http://
www.library.txstate.edu/swwc/misc/directions.html

Please RSVP to [log in to unmask] with the names of attendees, and
the archives/collections represented. And please forward this email to anyone who
might be interested.

Sincerely,
