I received a copy of the Field Guide at my institution. The only direct
advice in the guide concerning recovery of moving images and sound
recordings is not to allow magnetic (audio and video) tapes and motion
pictures to dry, but to keep them wet in clean water and call a specialist
(contacts listed in resources section). I haven't yet consulted the dvd
included with the guide, it may contain more detail.

I do think this Field Guide summarizes well the most important details of
general disaster response, and I'm impressed with its consideration of the
human factor: safety for people above all else, and how to communicate with
staff, vendors, conservators, and newsmedia. Their list of what to expect in
your emotional response to a disaster is quite good - it acknowledges the
anger and grief you're likely to feel, the tendency to overreact, and the
effects of unrealistic expectations of yourself ("expect to feel that you
have probably ruined the whole response effort or ruined valuable
materials.")
