Hi, your note came in to the old List.  Even on the current List (soon
to go dormant after tomorrow), it often was suggested we use plain text.
 (Sorry for the awkward passive voice, I don't remember who sent such
postings.)  I do remember seeing notes from PeterK and other technically
savvy people about this from time to time, over the years.

Which email programs do not send ASCII?  I only use AOL and Groupwise,
both of which permit me to use plain text.  

As to the new List, have you contacted Kerwin So, the new List
Coordinator?

You have a bigger problem.  The new LISTSERV does not  like HTML and
there 
are some people here using certain email  programs that will not send
straight 
ASCII.

This AOL will not.   Either get another listserver or reconfig this
one.
