The Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution has just opened the following position announcement for a Reference Archivist. The Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution, seeks an individual to manage the Archives' public access and reference programs in order to increase and enhance broad public awareness and use of the Archives unique collection. The Archives of American Art is the largest repository of documentation of the history of the visual arts in the United States. Its mission is to collect, preserve, and make available for study records, original papers, photographs, diaries, sketchbooks, and oral history interviews about art in America. The Head of Reference Services is responsible for operational and planning aspects of all public access and reference service programs providing information and related research services regarding the collections to the public, professional and scholarly researchers, and Smithsonian staff.
