Having had some good off list virtual chats with a number of people,
I've decided to subscribe to the new Archives and Archivists List.

I'm not convinced that I always will label my postings correctly or
even remember to do so. Old habits die hard and I'm liable to post
something without categorizing. This is all the more likely because
some of my stuff is difficult to label. However, in terms of format
and intent, I tend to think the new List will mirror the old one in its
tolerance and spontaneity.

As to filtering, well, that's been in place for years for some people.
I've already had a handful of people tell me over the years that they
automatically delete any message coming from me. Why they took the
time to inform me of that, I don't know. (I've never informed anyone
about which messages I delete and why, I don't find it necessary for
anyone to know that I delete some messages. Deletion is a private
choice, based on a number of often changing factors, including how busy
I am. So it's not meant to harm anyone. Or to make them feel badly.)

On the other hand, I've also had people send me very kind off list
messages over time, letting me know that they enjoy my messages. So,
my guess is that I am like anyone else on the List: my postings are
read by some people and not by others. That's fine with me.

My thanks to everyone who took the time to send me messages in the time
since I first posted about this late yesterday.
