Thanks to Glenn Welch for notifying the group about the Darke County Greenville CBC on Dec. 17. For those who may not be aware, the Ohio Division of Wildlife, over the objections of Audubon Ohio, decided to extend deer season to include the weekend of Dec. 16 and 17. This means that those in the field for CBC that weekend need to be extra careful in terms of where they go, what they do and what kind of clothing they wear. The League of Ohio Sportsmen has expressed an interest in working with Audubon Ohio to do outreach to educate the public about the extension of deer season and its implication for the first weekend of CBC. We are discussing the details with them. Although we objected to the extension of deer season to this weekend, now that it has occurred we feel it is appropriate to do what we can to educate CBC'ers on what it means for them and on how to take appropriate steps to stay safe during that weekend. Any suggestions would be appreciated. We intend to return to the subject of the overlap between deer season and CBC with the Division of Wildlife after this year's season is over. Jerome C.
