E. 72nd Street, Cleveland 10 a.m. - Noon Quite a few hardy souls braved this morning's single-digit temps to do some gull watching at E. 72nd street, as part of a "bird walk" (mostly standing and shivering) with Cleveland Metroparks and Western Cuyahoga Audubon. The Harbor area is starting to freeze up and there are more large gulls coming in, with similar finds as were reported yesterday. The partial list from this morning included: Mute Swan Gadwall Canvasback Redhead Lesser Scaup Common Goldeneye Bufflehead Common Merganser Red-breasted Merganser Peregrine (one adult - chased a couple of gulls and kicked up the flocks - later landed on a window ledge on upper story of the power plant) American Coot Pied-billed Grebe Double-crested Cormorant (3) Bonaparte's Gull - 80+ (rough estimate - nearly all adults) Ring-billed Gull (thousands) Herring Gull (thousands) Lesser Black-backed Gull (probably 3 adults, at least one 1 first winter) Glaucous Gull (1 adult) Great Black-backed Gull ~50 - very rough estimate Kevin E.
