A day late and a dollar short. I don't know if anyone else has mentioned it yet, I may have missed it, but the Osprey Pair at Alum Creek Resevoir are back on platform 4 and have started adding sticks, I saw both of them on the platform and then in the trees opposite Hogback ROad accross the water. Other birds in the area were E. Towhee, Field Sparrow, R-t. Hawk, T.V., Kingfisher, and some ducks that were too far out for me to see (I only had my 8 power monocular, its good but not spotting scope good). Here at home I just had some Golden-crowned Kinglets in the tree out my back window, must be some migration going on with them. I saw some yesterday while I was searching for vernal-pool wetlands. Speaking of those the Toads (american) have already begun calling, that seems a bit early to me. Breeding bird activity is happening too, I've found several pairs of R-b. Woodpeckers, Wood-cock out back, accross the street a nesting pair of Red-shouldered hawks, and the Screech Owls are calling low tremmulo's in the wood/edge behind us. Good birding, = Ben Warner ________________________________________________________________________ AOL now offers free email to everyone.
