Hi Andy, Can you tell me more about your Ornithology class noted below? Is the course something I could do or take? I am a newbie to birding and really badly need some training. I doubt if I can identify 10 birds!! But I want to be able to. sincerely, Joe Phillips Columbus, Ohio -----Original Message----- From: Ohio birds [mailto:[log in to unmask]]On Behalf Of Andy Newman Sent: Friday, April 20, 2007 1:26 PM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: [Ohio-birds] American Bittern and Kokosing Gap Trail Yesterday I saw a single American Bittern that I flushed while walking around Hoover Meadows with my Ornithology class. The bird flew a short distance and landed in the same wetland (it was the wetland in the back of the area. Hoover Meadows is located on the North Eastern side of Hoover Reservoir. Did not hear or see any rails, as well as Prothonotary Warblers at Mudhen Marsh. Birded the Kokosing Gap Trail today in Mount Vernon. Saw much of the usual suspects, the best birds I saw or heard were Brown Thrasher (saw 1, heard 1) and a single Northern Rough- winged Swallow. Got to watch some Belted Kingfishers diving for their aquatic prey. ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
