I'm not good at counting birds, but tonight I saw a sight that reminded me
of the fall, when chimney swifts flock into the school chimney across from
our house in Hudson.
At least a hundred were circling, and then making their tight spiral into
the chimney as darkness fell (and the thunder rolled). Is this typical
behavior this time of year? I thought they paired off and nested separately
and then did their mass roosting in the fall.
