Reports have been gleaned by the compiler from various internet sources, particularly Ohio-Birds, The Ohio Birding Forum, the RareBird.org forums, Cincinnati Bird Sightings Log, Southwestern Ohio (Dayton) Rare Bird Alert, and from some individual observers who kindly share their knowledge. Questions, comments, complaints and additional noteworthy sightings not posted to one of the above may be sent to the compiler. Review List Species. (Review list species are sufficiently rare that details of any sighting can help increase our understanding of Ohio's bird life. Suggestions and guidelines for submitting documentation of review list birds can be found at the OOS website (www.ohiobirds.org). GLOSSY IBIS: On the 10th, three "ibises" were reported from Metzger Marsh causeway, presumably these are some of the Glossy Ibises reported last week. LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE: Black Swamp Bird Observatory reported they banded one on the 5th, presumably at Ottawa NWR. Other Noteworthy Species LONG-TAILED DUCK: Doug & Micki Dunakin found one lingering at Paulding Reservoir, Paulding County, on the 6th. LITTLE BLUE HERON: One remained at Indian Creek Wildlife Area, Brown County, on the 5th according to Jay Stenger. John Williams reported one from the largest lake at Spring Grove Cemetery, Cincinnati, on the 7th. YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON: Three were reported from the Metzger Marsh causeway on the 10th. John Pogacnik reported one roosting in his yard in North Perry, Lake County, on the 8th. WILLET: Jack Stenger found nine on the beach at Delaware SP on the 5th. Larry Gara saw one on the beach at Caesar Creek State Park on the 7th. Jay Lehman refound it on the 8th. Matt Anderson found seven at Metzger Marsh on the 8th. WESTERN SANDPIPER: Leslie Basalla reported one from the end of Jefferson Ave. in the Cleveland flats on the 6th. BAIRD'S SANDPIPER: Lara Gara and Bob Powell found one at Cowan Lake SP on the 5th. LAUGHING GULL: Doug Overacker saw two on the beach at Buck Creek SP on the 5th. Bill Whan reported two at the boardwalk at the north end of Hoover Reservoir, Delaware County, on the same day. Larry Gara saw one the beach at Caesar Creek State Park on the 9th. BLACK TERN: Doug Overacker saw two flying over the reservoir at Buck Creek SP on THE 5th OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER: Doug Snapp reported one from Cedar Bog Nature Preserve, Champaign County, on the 4th. On the 5th, Doug Overacker saw one along the road to the historic Crabill House at Buck Creek SP. Rick Nirschl reported one from Magee Marsh on the 8th. Rob Lowry heard one on the Pet Trail at Highbanks Metropark, Delaware County, on the 8th. Steve Cagan had one at Erie Street Cemetery, Cleveland, on the 9th. GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLER: Widely reported. On the 5th, Jack Stenger found one singing at the Delaware SP campground, Doreene Linzell saw one at Blendon Woods Metropark, Columbus, and Doug Overacker found one along Baldwin Ln northeast of Buck Creek SP. Rob Lowry spotted one at Highbanks Metropark, Delaware County, on the 7th. One was reported from Oakwoods Nature Preserve, Hancock County, on the 8th, and on the same day Matt Anderson saw two at Metzger Marsh. On the 8th in Columbus, Dave Horn found one on the OSU main campus, and Aaron Boone spotted one on the west campus near North Star Rd. Rick Nirschl found one at Magee Marsh on the 8th and the 9th. Sylia Townsend (fide Bruce Simpson) saw one on the Lake Trail at Blendon Woods Metropark, Franklin County, on the 10th. BELL'S VIREO: On the 10th Adam Betuel found one at the woodlot where they nested last year on the OSU west campus, Columbus, east of North Star Road and south of Lane Ave. CLAY-COLORED SPARROW: Ben Warner reported finding one at Magee Marsh on the 5th. Matt Anderson reported one singing at Metzger Marsh on the 8th.
