Historians have been included in the meeting in the past. 2008 CPDD URPOP PRIMM-SINGLETON TRAVEL AWARD Underrepresented Populations Committee College on Problems of Drug Dependence The College on Problems of Drug Dependence (CPDD) is committed to increasing the presence and the involvement of underrepresented minority researchers in the College. The Underrepresented Population Committee (URPOP) solicits applications for a limited number of travel awards to the 70th Annual Meeting of CPDD to be held in San Juan, Puerto Rico, June 14-18, 2008. The URPOP travel award provides financial support to attend the CPDD Meeting and present current research related to drug addiction and associated behaviors. Awardees are expected to attend all activities sponsored by the URPOP, including a short presentation of current research, and to fully participate in the activities of sponsoring agencies (CPDD, Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) and National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA)) for the duration of the meetings. The applicant is also encouraged to submit an abstract to scientific sessions of the CPDD Meeting (deadline December 1, 2007, go to www.cpdd.org) or contact CSAT for their Satellite Meeting presentation opportunities (Dr. Laura House at [log in to unmask]). Eligibility for URPOP Travel Award: 1. Graduate or medical student who has not received their terminal degree (e.g., Ph.D., M.D., D.Sc.). 2. Demonstrated a commitment to research and/or teaching in substance abuse. 3. Member of an underrepresented population (i.e., African-American, Native-American, Hispanic-American, Pacific Islander, or underrepresented Asian-American groups). 4. US Citizen or permanent visa residents are required. 5. Must not have previously received an URPOP award. 6. Must not be currently supported by an NIH training grant or NRSA F31 award. Priorities will be given to those without current funding.
