Went over to Lawrence Woods in Kenton this morning and spotted and photographed a Great Crested Flycatcher talking to it's mate. here is link to photo at the OOB: http://www.ohiobirds.org/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=2376#p2376 Lawrence woods is one of those quiet out of the way places that either you stumble across it or a fellow birder/flower lover directs you...So here is a google map: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Lawrence+woods+Kenton+ohio&ie=UTF8&mrt=kmlkmz&ll=40.669702,-83.608017&spn=0.241132,0.598755&z=11 Easy walking, it has a boardwalk. As you can see from the map, there is a pond...with a blind. And if you are careful you will see a Rhino. (look for marker #2 then you'll understand). While at the pond I saw wood ducks, and a teal...but they scattered as soon as the saw my head in the blind. Also while I was on the trail, I saw several other flycatchers and gnatcatchers. I heard a Peewee, and a Red-eye Vireo. A partial list includes Red eyed Vireo (heard) Pewee(heard) Goldfinches Female common Yellowthroat. Great Crested flycatcher Blue-grey gnatcatcher Meadowlarks Orchard Orioles and Cedar Waxwings, of which I still didn't get a good picture... it started raining and I had to head to head for home. Happy Birding and God Bless Steve (a.k.a. sjLarue) ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
