I had a look at the Mahoning R. today; as expected, the current thaw has the river running high and murky now.  Only a few diving ducks were seen.  I looked around some other areas of eastern Mahoning Co.  An imm. greater white-fronted goose was with Canada geese along Yellow Creek near the Evans L. spillway.  Two purple finches were a welcome sight in Coitsville Twp.  Also seen today were wild turkeys, red-tailed hawks, 3 red-shouldered hawks, 2 Cooper's hawks, Am. kestrel, Carolina wren, e. bluebirds, Am. robin, Am. tree sparrows, and 2 white-throated sparrows.  No blackbirds of any sort were encountered today.  Later, Craig
