Thursday, Oct. 29: The nearly 2 inches of rain that we received earlier this week has left a very large shallow 'puddle' at the north end of the 'pond' and seems to be attracting shorebirds again. Greater yellowlegs - 6 Lesser yellowlegs - 15 Pectoral sp - 16 Dunlins - 10 Semipalmated sp - 1 Killdeer - many, many Great blue herons - 20 American pipits - 20+ Northern pintail - 1m, 1f Green-winged teal - 25+ Blue-winged teal - 8 Mallards - 30+ Canada geese - way too many Northern flicker - 1 poking around in the mud; 2 flying by Sharp-shinned hawk Eastern bluebirds - 3 Turkey vultures - 3 Downy, pileated, and red-bellied woodpeckers Ed Neubauer, Dian Alexander Englewood, Ohio ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
