I went over to Lawrence Woods yesterday on the way to work. (Just outside of Kenton on Co Rd 190, off of 292) Usually there is a warbler or two over there when they are migrating. but not yesterday. It was more of a woodpecker day; Pileated, Flicker, and Red bellied...oh my! ;-) Also seen were: Field sparrows Song Sparrows Winter Wren Cardinals Blue Gray Gnatcatchers building a nest (got pics :-D) Robins But the best part of the trip for me was the flowers Marsh Marigolds are at their prime. White Trillium are spectacular. A few Nodding Purple Trills were just coming out. I saw three different colors of phlox, two shades of purple and a white Preacher Britches were plentiful. Bloodworts haven't opened up yet. Trout Lilies are just finishing up. False Solomon's Seal were just starting I saw a few Jack in the Pulpits Lots of other flowers are scattered along the board walk. That's about it. Pics including Gnatcatcher nest are here: http://s153.photobucket.com/albums/s226/sjlarue/Lawrence_Woods_2010/ Later! ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
