I don't know if it is normal, but the mallards up at North Chagrin Reservation do it all the time. It is kinda funny looking. Love the picture, too! Is it normal behavior for Mallards to come and eat underneath a bird feeder? We have a pond so I am used to seeing them around but for the first time I have seen them come into the backyard and eat from underneath one of the bird feeders. They have visited that area 3 times today. I have never seen them do that before. I was just curious.
