A Buff-Breasted Sandpiper was the lone highlight during a brief visit to Conneaut yesterday evening. The bird was first seen in the short grass surrounding the main pool, but spent most of the time near the mouth of the small channel that runs from the lake to the main pool. Bird was still present when I left at 7:15PM. The only other shorebirds present were 7 Semipalmated Plovers, 3 Least Sandpipers, 2 Killdeer and 1 Sanderling. Human and canine disturbances were the worst I've encountered in quite some time. I guess the proposed crackdown on unruly behavior has yet to materialize.
