I've not seen many posts with Purple Martins so I figured I'd send this one out. A lone adult Purple Martin was fighting the winds and circling around the Rose Garden Cafe in Lorain, right at the shore line. I heard no characteristic chortles and I looked hard for other companion martins, but none were to be found. I know many people await the return of the martins to their colonies. Perhaps this lone soldier is a scout looking to start a new colony? Good birding!
