The last SEOW pair was seen on 4/27; the last individual bird was seen 5/13. With little humidity and a nearly full moon, if I was ever going to find one after dark, tonight was the night. Drove 3 miles into the reclaim fields with lights off and walked an additional 1.5 miles, as much as I would have liked to turn one of the many Killdeer flushing up into a SEOW, I couldn't and spent 2 hours with no sightings. However, there was enough moonlight that the Henslow Sparrows were singing! Another benefit was when driving out with the lights on, many immature birds use the haul roads for night time roosts and I was able to confirm several sps., including my first FY Henslow's.
