Hey Everybody, My name is Andrew Bair; if you're receiving this email it means that you signed up for Benton Information Technology Solutions (BITS), Student Advisory Council (SAC) and / or The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) at Mega Fair or you're a returning vet, either way read on. (We combined this email because, as you can tell from my signature, there's quite a bit of overlap) Anyways, here's a little bit more information on each organization, and what we do: ACM: In the ACM, we're the computer science department's social organization. This year we'll be hosting paintball (which is coming up VERY soon), having movie / video game nights, a charity poker game and we may even be taking a sledge hammer to a car (cause what relieves stress during exam time better than that?) But those are just ideas! When you join the ACM, you'll have a say in what we do- so come check us out This Thursday (15th September) at 4:30p in Benton, lab 09. Most importantlyTHERE WILL BE FREE PIZZA JOIN US ON FACEBOOK: http://www.facebook.com/groups/211371665563553/ BITS: Is a student-run company that carries out contract work for building software applications. We get paid to create software and websites for clients (this also looks great on a resume). The work is as much as you would like to put into it, and the pay is a fairly nice chunk of change. If interested, you should attend our meeting which will be Wednesday September 14 at 6 in Benton 09 SAC: Is the academic and governing student body of the computer science department. We basicly handle all of the behind-the-scenes things that the ACM does not, which includes: interviewing the new faculty members, setting up and employing tutors (you will be paid for tutoring) and creating events like the Alumni Conference. If you are interested, attend our meeting on Wednesday September 14 at 7, right after the BITS meeting, in lab 09 Hope to see you all soon, Andrew -- -President, Association for Computing Machinery, Miami University chapter -Vice President, Student Advisory Council -Vice President, Benton Information Technology Solutions
