Yesterday I reported an Albino Lesser Yellowlegs at Pickerington Ponds Metro Park. Later Rob Thorn reported that he had seen this bird on the previous day, but he thought it might be a Solitary Sandpiper. He privately told me he had seen the albino bird with two Solitary Sandpipers, and saw no difference in size or behavior between the birds. He thought the yellow legs were a part of the albinism. I returned to Pickerington Ponds today, and refound the bird, this time with two Solitary Sandpipers. Indeed, it was the same size or perhaps slightly smaller than the normally plumaged Solitary Sandpipers. A Lesser Yellowlegs would have been significantly larger. I am now convinced that this bird is a Solitary Sandpiper. I have added two new photos to the website. http://genebirds.blogspot.com/ Gene Stauffer Grove City ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
