Hi everyone, There have been a couple discussions lately on birding apps, and I know many post to the listserv from the field using their phones. With the final year of the Atlas coming to a close (still have owls in December!), we're discussing new ways to incorporate data into the Atlas. Not owning a smart-phone (or ANY cell-phone for that matter), I am a bit out-of-the-loop, but I'm wondering if there is an easy way to include all of these great observations and lists in the Atlas database. So, here are some questions for those using their smart-phones in the field: - Are old lists stored somewhere? on your phone? remotely? - can lists be sent to us via email? I'm sure this varies depending on the app used, but if past lists can be sent somewhere, all we need is: (1) a date, (2) a location, and (3) a species list. Any additional information is great, but just those 3 things can add a lot to the Atlas. For those unfamiliar with the Atlas, check out our website here: http://www.ohiobirds.org/obba2/index.php You can also view the results so far, and coverage here: http://bird.atlasing.org/Atlas/OH/Main?viewResults=1 We have done a lot in the last 6 years, but I am sure there is still a lot of untapped information out there from the army of Ohio birders. Thanks for any info!
