Crossed the Ohio and Erie Canal in Cuyahoga Heights about 3:45pm today and spotted a very small (less than robin-sized) somewhat longer=necked bird swimming in the canal, just south of Warner Road (south of the most northerly new white pedestrian/bike bridge). I was southbound, slowed down to look (of course) and the car behind me immediately blew its horn (of course). Went down the street, turned around, drove back to the OTHER side the canal and parked for safety, but could not relocated the bird. Not a grebe. Size and shape fit for phal, butŠ.?? Perhaps someone can walk the Towpath Trail between Warner and Granger Roads Friday and see if they can relocate the little guy.
