I ended up at Villa Angela and Wildwood State Parks on the east side of Cleveland on Lake Erie today from 12:30 to 4:30pm. It had almost stopped raining by the time I arrived. It was 48-50 degrees, 13 mph west winds. I stopped at the Lakeshore parking lot and saw many different sparrows, Kinglets around the pine trees and also seen down by the Japanese Knotweed along Euclid Creek. I found three different pine warblers flying back and forth between the pine trees making a loud chip noise so you could easily follow them. The park today was full of Kinglets, sparrows, Hermit Thrush and Winter Wrens and the paths and park in Villa Angela were full of water. The Hermit Thrush were enjoying all the water. Here is a list of some of what I saw today: Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers 3 (2VA & 1W) Northern Flicker 1 Eastern Phoebe 2-3 (WW & VA) Brown Creepers 6 Golden-crowned 20-25, Ruby-crowned Kinglets 30+ (impossible to count all of them) Hermit Thrush 17+ Wood Thrush 1 (near field entrance in VA) European Starlings 100+ picnic area Yellow-rumped Warblers 9 Pine Warblers 3 (1 was adult male, one 1st fall bird or juvenile, probable female not sure) Palm Warbler 1 American Redstart 1 Eastern Towhee 1m Chipping Sparrows 5-6 Song Sparrows 14 Swamp Sparrow 3 White-throated Sparrows - at least 100 White-crowned Sparrows 21 Dark-eyed Junco 27 (many near Wildwood picnic/maintenance area) Beaver 1 (Wildwood - you could see its long paddle shaped tail) Sims Park - Euclid 11:30 - 12:15PM Red-Breasted Mergansers 10-12 in water American Black Duck 2 Nancy Anderson Richmond Hts, OH http://www.flickr.com/photos/nancy_a/ ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
