Hi all, I just spent the last hour scanning the field for the possible Chestnut-collared Longspur along with several others (including the original finder). Approximately 500 Lapland Longspurs are in these fields and are constantly flying around, overhead and landing - usually between ridges out of site. It's definitely worth the search but bring a scope. The exact location is just north of Wallace Road on the west side of Howard Rd (across from the now-dried-up slough). Nearly all views are of in-flight birds. As soon as they land, they are usually hidden amongst vegetation/corn stubble and/or between ridges. Thanks Jen for the heads up! The description of the bird overall and the photos semi-support o molting male Chestnut-collared Longspur. The bird was loosely associating with 150 Lapland Longspurs on Howard Road just west of Metzger Marsh. I have no further details beyond a solid description and poor but intriguing photos.
